Mobilizing a core group of 100 grassroots women-home based workers, weavers, petty traders, paper craft producers and displaced/war affected women [Tamil- Muslim- Sinhala communities] in villages in Amparai district to create an enabling environment for ethnic communities to respect diversity, multi-ethnic identities and need for collective action and solidarity on issues of justice and equity. through an intensive empowerment process to meet the different needs and capacity levels of the outreach groups. This was done through designing training/mobilizing tools to claim rights. An inter-generational approach through sharing peace narratives, life storytelling, folk songs, poetry, drama and games was also used.
Different groups were formed and awareness created on issues such as Inter Ethnic harmony, Gender issues, Gender based violence, Peace building etc. among all groups, in addition specific issues relevant to groups were also discussed and promoted.

- Encouraging participants to think about sustainable peace and how to forge peace.
- Identifying needs to develop skills and improving capacity of PC to handle local issues mainly related to water and collector wells.
- Basic Social Analysis – Identifying problems, understanding and approach to resolve the issues
- Continue social analysis through field work exercise and introduce mobilisation concepts
- Understanding Peace and working towards peace building
- Peace building through accessing rights (making the interconnections)
