PDVA Champion Review Meeting, Ampara.
Ninety women and men from 15 villages in the Ampara District were trained in 2025 by MWRAF as “Champions” for the prevention of Domestic Violence (DV) and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in their villages.
These youth from Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim villages (five villages each), with the support of WDOs, other duty bearers, and village leaders, developed action plans and implemented programmes in their communities to raise awareness on DV and SGBV, as well as on referral pathways and available support services for survivors of violence.
Three review meetings were held in April 2026 to reflect on the experiences and actions taken by the Champions.
In light of the positive and encouraging feedback, MWRAF plans to continue supporting the Champions and their initiatives.
